Physical activity programme to deliver educational contents
Muuvit Health and Learning Oy Ltd and educational publisher Duden launch cooperation in Central Europe
Munich, Berlin 9.10.2014
A love of learning and the joy of exercise. Those are the key objectives of a cooperation between the German publisher Duden and Muuvit. Together the two companies are integrating selected contents created by education partner Duden into the Muuvit learning platform for primary school children. The platform focuses on German, English and maths, and Duden content is now available for teachers, students and parents to use as part of the Online Muuvit Adventure.

Originally from Finland, Muuvit is a successful learning and exercising programme aimed at primary school children. It is engaging and easy-to-use and integrates physical activity into some of the more “theoretical” subjects taught in schools, such as maths, geography, health and environment, and languages.
“We all know that kids who get enough exercise are a far more rewarding audience for teachers and parents. Muuvit keeps activity levels up. Together with Duden, which is one of Germany’s best-known publishing houses, we are now combining high-quality learning content with physical activity. Our goal is to have a dual impact on both health and education“, says Juha Villanen, CEO and co-founder of Muuvit. "Basically we’ve created a new way of delivering educational content – through physical activity. Exercising has short and long term impact on learning, so it seems a very logical choice in this respect,” explains Villanen.
“Duden and Muuvit are an excellent fit. Muuvit uses exercise to nurture a love of learning among children. That’s something we are very keen to support with this cooperation,” says a delighted Julia Reinking, director of Duden, referring to the new joint offering. “In school, children are often expected to sit still for far too long.”
